PB.C: “the 82,376th most visited site in the entire world”

June 30th, 2006

Somebody has just emailed me to say that according to Alexa.com Politicalbetting is today the “….82,376th most visited site in the entire world“.

I have no idea how this is calculated but apparently nine people in every million web users world-wide have been here today….and I thought it was just Andrea!

Thanks to everybody for their support.

  1. Well Andrea and Jack W are probably four fifths of those visits Mike ;)

  2. Google, or Murdoch, may make you an offer Mike!

  3. Congratulations Mike!

  4. Mike,

You badly need to increase the tits and arse barrier on your content if you’re ever going to make a leap up the rankings! (But please no nude pictures of John Prescott on the header - that might scare some off)

  5. Congratulations Mike… I hope a fair enough proportion of people are ‘clicking through’ the betting ads to help pay for the server etc.

  6. Andrea, Can you please list the other 82,375, preferably before 9.00pm? We need to know the opposition.

  7. 6 - Not sure the spam filter will let the majority through ;-)

  8. Excellent news …. a public floatation beckons !

    Have a good break Mike.

  9. 4 - Well I for one am willing to volunteer and will endeavour to provide Pb.com with some ‘Bryant’ style shots. Unfortunately I prefer boxers to y-fronts though! Oh and I’ve got pecs rather than tits of course!

  10. 1. Congratulations Mike, now to move up the rankings, why not set the comments page to autorefresh every 20 seconds or so ;)

    2. I agree with JohnO at 6. Let’s find out about the opposition, get our bar charts together and campaign as one: pb.c winning here!

  11. 9. Max,I didn’t know you kept the photo…Alastair still has to recover since I sent her the pic without mentioning him the content.

  12. Congratulations. Very well deserved.

  13. ** Ming Campbell loses Bromley for Lib Dems **
Ming Campbell is quoted boasting of stopping Lib Dems campaigning in Bromley before the writ had been moved, as his previous comments indicated. Surely that extra couple of weeks would have got them the 300 votes they needed to win.

What’s incredible is that the Lib Dems still so nearly won. It is clear that whenever there’s no pre-existing challenger, the Lib Dems have a realistic chance in every seat outside Northern Ireland.

Also surprising is that Mike got it wrong for once! I believed him to the extent of backing the Tories at 0.12/1 yesterday - crazy. At those odds I should have been well up on the Lib Dems and perhaps a little down on the Tories. I’ll be putting a load on the Lib Dems for most by-elections from now on.

By-elections clearly don’t indicate very much at all for the rest of politics. They’re important to the Lib Dems because they gain one or two seats every Parliament and then hold some of them, making them an important source of new seats. But they don’t tell you much about how politics is going.

Would have been great to see the Cameron band-wagon take a bigger dent at Bromley.

As for the popular website, that’s amazing, Mike. It’s all down to some fantastic insight on party politics, and a great place to gossip about outcomes and pick up tips.

  14. 13. IIRC you started to campaign before the writ was moved. He said it, but he probably meant the funeral, so I think you just waited for the funeral to take place.
