  1. Mike theres some speculation in the old thread that this is actually an old poll. Can you shed any light on this?

  2. Is it an old poll?

  3. Combined top three get 91% - way too high. Election very hard to call.

  4. Just like the Scottish elections last year. Yougov gave a larger lead, ICM and others said it was closer.

  5. I have withdrawn the story pending confirmation.

  6. 5 - Mike I posted a comment on the last thread pointing out that it is identical to the ICM Guardian poll from 1st of April. Seems a bit of a c0ck up by the Telegraph. I wonder if Don has any news?

  7. OT - News Flash (reposted from previous thred)

US Supreme Court has just upheld state voter ID laws that require voters to present indentification at the polls.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/29/washington/28cnd-scotus.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin

Provisions and impact of these laws vary from state to state. Here in WA State, our voter ID law has been noncontroversial, because it is pretty reasonable:

-any government issued ID is acceptable
-voters who do not bring qualifiying ID to the polls can vote a provisional ballot; if the voter signature submitted with the provisional matches the registration signature on file, and everything else checks out, then the ballot is accepted for counting

Bad news re: impact of Court’s ruling on other states with less reasonable provisions, is that many voters will be effectively disenfranchised in order to prevent fraud that is theoretical as opposed to actual.

Indeed, Indiana has one of the worst voter ID laws, delibrately crafted by the GOP to suppress Democratic turnout.

Good news about the ruling, is that a majority of the court left open the door to specific challenge based upon specific denial of voting rights; that is, a challenge based upon the details of the law, not the theory.

  8. THE TELEGRAPH STORY IS BASED ON THE OLD POLL

  9. We cannot confirm any poll until getting the nod from Don!!!

  10. Re You GOV v ICM pollster battle
On previous thread mention that You gov internet sample has a higher propensity to vote than other pollweers sample. If this is so and Tories are most likley to vote does thisintrodice a bias?

  11. Steward’s Enquiry !!!

  12. 8 & 9 - I’m assuming that it’s a balls up by the Telegraph, correct?

Oh, the Sky News debate is about to start.

  14. [10] - Well, yes, but perhaps it is a good bias to introduce. Obviously, if you want to predict how people will vote in an election you are interested in the opinions of voters rather than just of people in general.

  15. gilligan is on the panel with Iain dale…… should be lively

  16. Oh, right, if it’s the Telegraph its just an endearing, messy-haired, oh cripes “balls-up”. If it had been a pro-Ken old poll in the Guardian it would have been yet another example of the outrageous leftie bias.

  17. Gilligan really doesn’t like Ken.

  18. 9 Mike S. Will Don’s dog walkers second cousin’s postmans le$bian partner do ??

  19. Given that the poll is old, the only remaining news in the story is that Boris…

“..prepares to unveil his most eye-catching policy, a ban on drinking on the Underground.”

I thought the Tories were against this sort of control of people’s lives?

  20. New thread - COMRES reports a 14% Tory lead

  21. Who is this over-enthusiastic Labour clone? He is not making a good impression of himself.

  22. 21 the tit is alex hilton. yet another loser lefty
